Natalie just chastised me for not sharing with you all the cute stories that happen at our training center. Here I thought that I had shared everything, but she reminded me of a little incident that happened when they were there.
I believe that it was Satturday night, I had a house full of company and we were all just getting ready for bed. Travis and I were headed out the door to make one final visit to the outhouse, when suddenly he grabbed my flashlight and pointed it into the dark recesses of the kitchen. I didn’t see anything, but I was alarmed because of his sudden desire to see into the kitchen more accurately than what the candle light would allow. Then, cat like, he snuck across the kitchen, and threw the lid onto the rice bucket. He then proceeded to jump up and down and yell, “I got it!      ” You got what???? I asked with a bit of dread in my voice. “The rat”, he said proudly. Um, you mean the rat is now in my rice bucket? Sure enough, Travis shone the light into the bucket, and there was a big rat, frantically trying to get out.
Travis then called Seh Doe to help him get the rat out of the rice bucket. Get the rat out??? I was not about to stay around to find out how this procedure would go, so I headed out into the night to find a safe place to wait, like the top of a tree or something. I really couldn’t tell you how they got the rat out of the bucket, or how the rat met it’s demise, except that I was just told that a neighbor happened by at the very moment and kindly took it off our hands… And, the scary part is….I don’t even know what happened to the rice! I was so busy and had so much company that I forgot all about it…until Natalie so kindly reminded me.
