The Latest

I keep writing new things to put on here, and by the time I get to the internet, everything has changed again and it is no longer relevant! So, here is the latest:

Yesterday, I was sitting in my house, peacefully trying to calm the screaming Hannah, when Travis came in and told me that Hannah’s father and oldest sister were having a bad fight. I was a little surprised since the girl is so sweet that I didn’t think that she could fight with anyone. Finally, Hannah calmed down, (she was not feeling good) and then I could hear what Travis was talking about. It was the worst sounding fight I have ever heard in my entire life! I was planning to go to the well to take our baths and wash laundry like usual, when Travis reported that now they were throwing machetes at each other! We decided that it was better to stay in the house and lay low for the day. The caretaker was doing his best to stop the fight, so we knew that everything was being done that could be done. Travis went and watched the proceedings from a discreet area, and he later reported that now he knows why the mother was so willing to give me her kids… it is for their own protection!

This morning, the mother along with the 18 year old and the 3 year old, were gone. I do not believe that they will be coming back, and it is easy to understand why. I am just glad that I still have Hannah and that the others are out of harms way for now. The 18 year old girl told the boys that she was so disappointed to not be able to stay and live with me, but she could not be near her father. So, I am down to one daughter again, and I believe that it will prove to be a blessing in the long run since the 3 year old already had some very bad habits that would have been really hard to overcome. I am still willing to take her if they bring her back, but I doubt that they will.

What this all means to me is that we have a lot of teaching to do with this father if he is ever to become a Christian. Please pray for us as we work with him to over come his bad temper.
