I actually got a good nights sleep last night! This morning, Gayle came over to our house for breakfast, and while we were sitting there talking she mentioned that she needs to spend more time with her boys, so we worked out a deal that she would take the morning clinic and I would take the evening clinic. That meant that I could get my house clean, and spend some time with my boys before heading up to the clinic for the day. But, less than 10 minutes after Gayle left, I got to feeling uncomfortable about things and decided to go up early. As soon as I got there Gayle told me to go look at a little baby on the porch. She had just given it a medication to open up it’s lungs. Well, when I checked that baby I could see immediately that we had a very serious case on our hands. The baby was BLUE, and it could hardly breath at all. We raced to get the nebulizer hooked up and the medication mixed. We knew that there was no way that baby would live the half an hour it takes to get to the hospital. While I gave it a treatment with the nebulizer, Lena made an onion poultice for the baby and Gayle did hot and cold fomentation’s on it’s chest. We had two visitors come in right about then, and they stood and prayed for the baby while we worked. After the first treatment with the nebulizer, the baby was no better so we did another one. About that time, the baby’s eyes rolled back in it’s head, and it looked like we were losing the fight. Gayle gave the baby an injection of epinephrine, and we kept working and praying. Then we decided to try to make the trip to the hospital. I had all the things needed to do CPR with me. Paul drove us to the hospital using extreme diesel therapy! Amazingly, the baby lived all the way to the hospital, and is now in their care. Gayle and I were praising the Lord for the poor baby’s life all the way home. This is another case where the baby would have been dead if we had not been there.
Sometimes we wonder how we can keep up the pace of all the patients that come to us, but then things like this happen and we are so grateful that we can be here, and that  now a little girl has the chance to grow up and learn to know Jesus. And, that little girl’s mother knows that we prayed for her little daughter and she lived. God is so much stronger than the spirits that they worship. It makes all our tiredness disappear!
