Thank you!

This morning I was talking to Roy on the phone, and he told me about the generosity of our friends at one of the churches he visited. All I could do is stand in awe of how wonderful God is to provide for our needs through you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

To be honest with you, I was having a little bit of fear and trepidation in my heart when Roy purchased his plane tickets this week. In my mind it was the last step between me and security. I believe that this offering was God’s way of telling me that He loves us and will not let us starve to death in a strange land. I really have no reason to be fearful, because in 1993, we left the security of a regular pay check so that we could work on raising our boys for the Lord in a country setting.  The Lord has never once let us down, and we have never lacked anything we needed. Not only have we not lacked anything, but we have the blessing of knowing that all four of our boys love and serve the Lord! Truly, we are rich! So, you see how silly my fears are after all!

Speaking of those plane tickets, Roy will be leaving the States on June 21, and will arrive here very late on June 22! June 14 will be his last day at home since he will be leaving for Thailand right after Faith Camp.  I am really happy that he will be here soon. He is working on all the last minute details of moving to Thailand, plus going to all the camp meetings he can squeeze in. Over here, we provide the spiritual food, we do not receive much, (all sermons and prayers are in Burmese, Karen, or Thai)  so he is also bringing me as many DVD’s as he can fit in for our own spiritual refreshment. I am hoping that he will grab some really good new music CD’s also! When the devil attacks, there is just nothing to compare with good Christian music turned up as loud as my computer will play it! I don’t know what I would do without it. In fact, here is my plea for people to make good Christian music CD’s! We need good music, and it is very hard to find. It seems like most of the music out there has been tainted by drums, and loud emotionalism. That type of thing is not good, and especially bad over here. Hannah has been encouraged to dance, and was much praised for it, so we have to really watch what kind of music we allow or she will make the most of it! (it may be cute now, but we don’t encourage anything in our infants that we don’t want to see in our teens)

How did I get off on that subject anyhow? I guess you would all faint if I actually stuck to one subject! So, while I am at it…I am in Mae Salit this week. We left on Tuesday morning, and got to Mae Sot Wednesday morning. We were able to get our visa’s taken care of right away, so we are good for a couple more months. Then, we came up to Mae Salit to visit the Adams, and see what is happening there at the school. It is really amazing actually! They have done a LOT with the school. There are real dorms, real teacher’s houses, a real cafeteria, real outhouses, and they were working on pouring the floor for the classrooms. They have 235 students already. (that is up from 100 last year) Not only that, but they have taken in 5 orphans so far…I mean little orphans! They have two babies less than one year old, and a 3, 5 and 8 year old. They built a huge play pen in their house so that the babies could not get into the medicines and other off- limits items. They certainly have their hands full! I ended up giving my reluctant blessing for Jason to come up and help them out for a while. They did not have an English teacher at all, and they need someone to supervise the school. Jason is more than willing to help, especially since he loves kids so much. Yesterday he found some broken umbrellas, and made them into parachutes for the entertainment of the kids. There were 20 little children watching his every move, laughing and running after the parachutes every time he threw them. (yes, it was 20 kids…I counted!) So, Jason will be busy, but very happy. For those of you who know Jason, you will realize that working with little children is most likely his calling in life. He not only loves them, he is also an excellent disciplinarian. Oh, and they changed the name of LKY school, to Sunshine Orchard Children’s Home and Learning Center.

Hannah was really excited about her very first trip in a bus. In fact, she was overly excited, as my bruised legs can testify to! She had never been in an enclosed vehicle before, and she was also sick. I gave her some medicine to help open her airway, but it seemed to have a very hyper affect on her. She could not sit still for one second the whole 8 hour trip into Bangkok. Even when we got there, I made her walk about a half mile to where we needed to go, and she was still so wound up that when we got there I walked her in circles until I got too dizzy! Then, we walked all the way back to where we started in order to buy her some good shoes, since she was quickly wearing out the ones that she was wearing at the time. Then, we walked all the way back to the bus terminal again. After another 30 minutes of incessant walking, she finally fell into an exhausted sleep. So, the second overnight bus went better, since she was sleeping, but I must say that sitting up on a bus all night with a baby who wants to turn over in her sleep every few minutes is anything but relaxing! I am working hard on getting her well so that when we go back she will not need any medicine! Americans should really appreciate those irritating car seats! They are a blessing in more ways than one. (she did really well on the way home!)

Visa runs can be a pain, as you well know if you have ever read what I wrote before, but this one turned out to be a very blessed break. I needed the rest and the change of scenery. It is such a blessing to be able to meet with other missionaries and get to actually TALK in our very own language to our hearts content! Although all the missionaries are spread out and we don’t get to see each other very often, it is always a joy to get together to compare notes. I can see that God is working here in Thailand, and using each family for his honor and glory.

And, that teachers seminar that I was supposed to do? It went fine.  All I can do is give God all the glory, since I did not know what to say, and because Hannah had been so sick I had spent all my time on her instead of preparing.  I just prayed and asked God to put words into my mouth since I had no notes or any idea of what to say. As the Pastor translated for me, ideas just came flooding into my mind and I just said what the Lord gave me. God is always faithful, and I believe that he didn’t give me anything to say ahead of time so that I would have to totally depend on Him.
