Resting

For the past couple of weeks when Andrew calls me, he asks me what we are planning to do since the door is closed here. He told me that in the fast pace of American life, it seems like we are taking forever to decide! He would like a definite answer to give to people.

Well, we do have some ideas, in fact some pretty good ones! But, we are praying about our options, and are not willing to run ahead of God in this. We have asked the mission if they have someplace else that they would like for us to go, and so far have not received an answer.

In the mean time, we are resting up. After the stress of the last few months, combined with nearly 3 years of intermittent sickness, we are downright worn out! So, we are taking it easy…just homeschooling seven of our eight Asian kids every day, and teaching English to a village lady who wants to learn. By the way…have you ever tried homeschooling seven kids every day???? Well, we consider that rest at the moment, but there are times that I think we are crazy to think like that! I must admit though that we are not teaching all the subjects. We only teach Karen, Thai, Math, Geography, Emergency medicine, piano, violin, English, and bible. Most of the kids are doing really well, and they all thrive on a full daily schedule. Our older boys are having a bit of a harder time since they do not know much English yet, but they are learning fast.

Right now, Roy has rubella, so he is lounging around on the bed every day, feeling miserable. At least he is getting plenty of rest. Ben is in school again, and feeling a bit stronger than he did. His stomach is still upset by his brush with dengue and malaria, but from my experience, that is pretty normal and will just take a while to get back to normal.

Just as soon as we make a final decision as to where we go next, I will let you all know. In the mean time, pray that our kids will be really good, and that we won’t get sick again.
