We got a call last night asking us to come to the check station and pick up our newest students! We had thought that they decided not to come, but they did come after all. We now have two BOYS! Travis was really happy about that since all of our students were girls so far.
Our first boy is Ethehdal. He is 12 years old, and in the third standard. Travis was teaching him at the school up in GWM, but now that Travis cannot go back to that village due to safety issues, his students decided to come to him. Ethehdal says that he wants to be a teacher some day. He is pretty shy, so I have not gotten to know him yet.
The next boy’s name is….ummmm….I don’t remember! Pretty bad, huh? Well, they have such names as I never heard of before, and it is really hard to remember them. I practice for days before I get them down correctly. So, I will let you know his name later! I can tell you that he is 17 years old, and has finished the 7th standard. He wants to be a doctor.
Not to diminish the importance of my students, but I have to tell you about another new member of the family. We decided recently, due to threats that we were getting, that we needed a night guard. Living in Asia can be quite dangerous, and we don’t like to make a big deal about it, but our safety and well being were at stake. So, after a long search, we found the perfect fit for this position. He has taken to his job very seriously and thoroughly. He stays up every night patrolling each and every dark corner of the house. He checks under and around the house also, and is very quiet so as not to disturb our sleep. Hannah is afraid of him, but she will adjust sooner or later!  Our newest employee is a very brave, nimble, trustworthy, and curious…cat. He is also vicious when necessary! The local rats who were threatening our health and wellbeing should now be quaking in their boots.  Our only problem is that we can’t think of a good enough name for him. So, I am posting his picture in the hopes that you can provide brilliant idea’s for me! We will then vote on the names that come in, and choose one that we can all agree on. OK?
Hi!
I think the new member of your family (the cat!) should be named either Petong or Chai – you know, I nice Asian Karen name!!! If you choose either one, let me know, as I am very interested.
I’m enjoying reading your blog!

The cat’s name should be Paul. 😉
Ok, He is your guard cat and it sounds like he has a very important job; so why not call him “Sergeant Claws” or “Captian Watchful?” I also like Victor like Jessica suggested, so how about “Corperal Victor?”
I’m looking forward to seeing what you decide to name your wonderful new pet…um… I mean guard kitty!
Love & Prayers,
Jeff
Debora suggests “Catinator” which is a take off of Terminator. Dad likes this name too.
Mother suggests Tomohawk!
