God Is Good

It is always amazing to me how God works. Last week was a really hard week, to say the least. But, for some unknown reason, the noise has stopped at night completely,(that is until I began writing, and now it started in again) and only occasionally during the day do we have to hear that loud music. But, the good news is that God knew ahead of time that we would have a need, so this is how He worked it out!

When my computer was stolen, I lost all of my music, since it was all loaded on my computer. I have a really nice set of speakers for my computer, so if I had music, I could drown out the neighbors music, but all I had was two cd’s, and we would get tired of listening to them over and over again. But, it just so happened….I don’t believe in coincidences….that Andrew left his CD case here, and the other day I found it and started looking to see what he had. Well, he had ALL of our music CD’s in there! So, now I have an abundance of music for when the neighbors get too rambunctious with their speakers. I can just see God orchestrating all the things that would have to happen for me to find that missing case at just the right time.

Another thing that was really bad around here was Hannah. Her attitude had gone downhill pretty drastically, and we were at our wits end to know what to do with her. She does not react to anything the way a normal child would, and we did not know what in the world to do to turn her around. She had started yelling at me and hitting people. So, on one of my sleepless nights last week, I prayed and prayed about the situation and claimed James 1:5. An idea popped into my mind, so the next morning I shared it with Roy and Travis and we decided to see if it would work. Whenever she would start to misbehave, we would calmly take her by the hand and put her in her room and then leave. After she finished her initial screaming fit, I would tell her from the other room that when she did not cry or talk for 5 minutes she could come out. The first few times, she was in here for a long time before she finally figured out that she had to obey. After two days of that, her attitude had improved considerably, and by today, we only had to do it twice. The rest of the day she was sweet and helpful and much more of a joy to have around. God’s ways really do work!

Some of you had asked me about what happened with Aunty. She stayed here for about a week, and then when Roy and I had to go to town, she decided to leave. She then went to Bangkok and is living with her son. We found out later that she regularly talked using Thunduh’s dead father’s voice, and this was really upsetting to Thunduh. She is seriously demon possessed, and since she had no desire to change, it is much better for all of us that she did not stay.

As you know, Jason left and went to Cambodia because he could not get a visa extension. He felt that he should go back to America to work until we could get his visa figured out, but I was really worried about that. I have heard on the news that unemployment is really high, and all those protests and stuff sound really bad. He is needed here so badly that I could just not see it as being God’s will that he go. But, he told me that he had really prayed about it, and he felt that this is what God was asking him to do. So, I asked the Lord for two things. The money for his plane ticket, and a job for him since he would have no money after getting the  ticket. Once again, God calmed a mother’s fears, and has granted me my two requests! Jason will fly to Sacramento on the 8th of December. He will have the opportunity to go to Ben’s graduation from AFCOE, and then take a trip to GYC before starting work. The bible says that we have not because we ask not…I am so glad that I asked!

Andrew and Khen have now decided on the date for the wedding. It is to be on March 4, 2012, which happens to be my birthday! We are all really excited about it. He does not have the money yet, but decided to go ahead in faith, since in Cambodia a long engagement is considered to be bad. We are confident that God can work out all the details for the wedding also.

Now for my prayer request…last week Jabez had an accident and hurt his shoulder pretty badly. (Accidents happen when you have naughty older children around)  I took him to the hospital twice, and they say that nothing is broken. But, He cannot put any weight on his arm, which is pretty serious for a crawling baby! We feel terribly about his accident, and we would love for you to unite your prayers with ours for his speedy recovery.
