An Empty House

We are having the most peace and quiet that we have experienced in a long time. For the first time in a year, I have NO students here, and two of the boys are up at a village building a new school. It seems so empty and quiet with only the 8 of us here. I got to thinking about it, and I certainly have had a shift in my thinking…to think that 8 people are having “hardly anybody” at all in the house!

Now, don’t get too worried about me. Hannah is being extra bad right now, and creating all kinds of what I would term, “unneccessary” noise. And Jason, who has been working with his abreviated crew of Meme and Memewah, makes all kinds of noise while trying to keep each girl motivated to work hard all day long. I never heard so much laughing , and screaching in my life. Today the two girls came racing down the path towards the house in brown dresses…or I thought that they were brown dresses! They had been trying to pack down the new earthen dam that Roy is building , but Jason had added a bit of water, and turned it into a mud bog! They were covered from head to foot with mud. I quickly informed them that I had just resigned as the  laundry washer. They were having so much fun, that even that threat had no ill effects on their enthusiasm. And, as far as little noisemakers are concerned…Jabez is NOT going to be outdone by all those girls. He has been sick, and is very certain that if he does not tell us about it, we will not give him the propper doses of sympathy which he so rightly deserves. So, as you can see, although there are not many of us here, we are getting along just fine.

Now, before you berate me for contradicting myself, I still say that it is peaceful and quiet, in spite of the noise! These noises that I just described are sort of like crickets, they are always there, and you just expect to hear them. If they were missing, we would be alarmed and tense, practically ready to turn ourselves in to the guys with white coats. (which might not be that bad of an idea)

Now before you get so excited that you want to come and join me here, you should probably know that I am expecting some of the students to arrive tomorrow. Not only that, but I heard that I need to move out of my house within a week so that a bunch of villagers can use the posts to build the new dorms for me.  So, I am enjoying my leisure while I have it! I probably won’t get any more until March of next year.

PS- What happened this past week….I bought Roy’s plane ticket for an incredibly low price. I know that it was a miracle! Then, the parents of the children who want to attend decided to come and make this school happen! They will  get all the materials for buildings from the jungle for us, and build the dorms themselves. They will be temporary, but at least we can take the students. God is so amazing.
