A Valley On The Top Of A Mountain

I was just reading an email from a friend of ours, and he was telling about how they were going through a “valley” experience. Well, we are too, but an “on top of the mountain valley” experience!

We came back to the training center in time for a wonderful Sabbath, and Roy has gotten to know all the students, and the caretaker and his wife. He has inspected the property and decided where the buildings will be, and also seconded my opinion that the bridge is the FIRST thing to be fixed! ( now the bamboo cross pieces are broken and the beams are broken….we say a prayer before driving over it) Andrew also is here, and getting to know his little sister. She liked him at first sight! He must have reminded her of Jason and Travis since she did not have any trouble at all getting to know him. And, to add to our great joy, I now have a Karen teacher living with us! Pearl will teach us Karen every morning. We are really happy about that since I was not getting very far in my language learning.

I have also had the happy job of going through all the things that our friends sent from home. It was absolutely amazing! Every time I pulled another thing out of the suitcase, I was so surprised! The clothing for Hannah is so needed and wonderful! So many cute things that I must admit to changing her clothes more than absolutely necessary. (of course I pay for it when I go to hand wash all that laundry!) I wish that I could thank each and every one of you personally, but I don’t even have email address for everyone. I do have to say a word about the cute quilt… Hannah hates blankets. I think that they used one to torture her with  when she was little or something. But, when I pulled that blanket out of the suitcase, she came running over to inspect it, and when I laid it out on the floor for her to see, she was totally wonderstruck! She loves that quilt, and it is so perfect for her since it does not get tangled up in her legs. I really could go on and on about all the things that were sent to me, we are still trying to figure out where to keep all the wonderful DVD’s and books. I gave the special bible to our caretaker since he had asked me for an English bible a long time ago. He was so happy! Let me just say that you all made a bunch of missionaries very happy, and we can’t thank you enough!

But, in the midst of this wonderful weekend, I got a call from Gayle, who had extended her visit to Sunshine Orchard School in order to take care of Jason, and she was starting to sound really worried about him! To make a long story short, they took him to the hospital yesterday and he was admitted right away. I am still having to get the details as they come, but so far we know that he has dengue fever, and possibly sepsis also. The doctor does speak English, and Gayle says that they are taking very good care of him. But we are all still pretty worried about him. So, please pray for Jason, that the Lord would heal him, and give him strength.

  1. We really enjoy your missives Lisa, and we keep you and Gayle’s mission in our prayers. Yes, We will be lifting Jason up more often until we hear that he is well. Glad that the supplies made a difference. Praise God that He has an army of warriors out here to take care of the ‘light stuff’ while you kids are taking care of the heavy work there. God bless you all.
