Sometimes blessings come in small packages, like Hannah and Destiny did. Sometimes we get medium sized blessings, like Meme and Memewah, but this time our blessing came in a HUGE package!
On Monday Roy headed to Bangkok to see if he could procure our latest blessing. He took the overnight bus and then traipsed from door to door, talking to one official after another, doling out huge sums of money at each place. I was sitting at home, taking care of the kids and counting up the baht as it flew out the window, so to speak. Â On the third day, I got news that God was also watching all that money fly out of our bank account, and so had decided to replace it for us! I ceased to worry about the funding and instead waited by the phone to hear if the blessing had made it out of Bangkok safely.
It did! At midnight last night, our huge blessing was unloaded off of a truck down at the Sunshine Orchard, and a very tired Roy and Travis then made their way back home. They got home a little before 2 in the morning, tired but happy.
What is our new blessing? Well, it is an airplane…. an ultralite to be exact. A kind donor in America sent it to us to be used to further the work here in Thailand, and since Roy is the only missionary here with experience in flying this category of airplane, it was sent to us.
Now, we never expected to get an airplane to work with, but already the ideas are flying around here. We can take medical supplies and food to Gayle much easier, and supplies to Travis’ school also. There is just an endless variety of things that it might be used for. But first, Travis is going to have to attend a Thai flight school in order to be licensed to fly. Then, we have to file all the paperwork and stuff, which could take time. Already, eager applicants are lining up to learn to fly our newest addition.
We are planning to join our airplane down at Sunshine Orchard next week, since we believe that a small house will be ready by then. I will post pictures as soon as they are available. (It would have been a little hard to get pictures at midnight.) I think that God must have fun sometimes, sending us tools for His work that some members of the family really enjoy.
