A Big Assignment

Yesterday was my first meeting with all the big wigs. Pastor Phamor, Pastor Dang, and Pastor Windsley showed up here yesterday morning. I did not know that I was expecting company, but I was thrilled to see them. I had so many unanswered questions about what we are supposed to accomplish here! We had a really good meeting, and I was very impressed with these men. They are godly and open and honest and willing to help. My only complaint, if I have one, is that they think far more of my abilities than I do!

Pastor Phamor let me know that they expect me to go around to all the schools and do teacher training seminars. Who, me?????? I am not sure why they think that I can do such a thing, but as we talked more about the needs, I could see that it is a huge need, and someone has to do it! I just wish that there were someone better than me to do it. In fact, they want me to do my first seminar next week!!!! The big problem here is that 99% of Adventists do not know what an Adventist is, or what we believe. They do firmly believe in the Sabbath, and other major issues, but they do not know how to keep the Sabbath, or other things that we just take for granted that everyone knows.  I guess the practical part of Christianity is missing. When I told them about the need for a bible worker up at Travis’ village, they told me to look for bright young people and train one for them… they have nobody that they can send. The purpose of this training school is to train promising young people, so that they can go out and do the work. They told me that I am to train teachers, evangelists, bible workers, and medical missionaries. Now, that sounds like a REALLY tall order to me! Not only that, but I have to train someone to be able to interpret for me also! I guess Kenthegee is going to have to study really hard and fast.

So, if anyone already has a great lecture written on the purpose of Christian education, and another one on the principles of Christian education, in simple English, could you send them to me right away? Hannah has chosen this precise time to get very sick, and so she is demanding more time and attention than normal, but I do have at least the first couple of paragraphs written already! (of my first lecture….oh boy!) I might not panic so much, but they told me that they want 2 week or 1 month seminars also, at least every quarter, besides the weekend seminars for the teachers. So, if you happen to see my husband, please tell him to hurry back to Thailand, since he is needed really desperately!

The great news is that they are also working on getting electricity put in for me, they approved of my plans for the property here, and they liked all the progress I have made. They are even working on getting long term visas for us so that we do not have to take those long, expensive, irritating, and sometimes dangerous, trips anymore. So, although my work load just quadrupled, I feel really good about the possibilities here. I know that God has a big work planned for this place, and I am so happy to be able to play at least a little part in finishing His work.
